Steps:
- Print out the picture(s) of different fruit.
- Using a Q-Tip you will paint the picture by making small dots until the picture is completely covered.
- Try using only prime colors and making the color of the fruit by alternating the 2 colors when painting to make the correct color of the fruit. (Red+Yellow=Orange | Yellow+Blue=Green | Blue+Red=Purple)
- Once your paintings are dry, hang them up across the room and stand back and watch the colors mix to make the new (secondary) color.
Lesson 2 | Pointillism Landscapes
2nd - 6th Grade
Supplies:
- Markers
- Paper
- Pencil
Steps:
- Draw out a landscape scene. If you can, get outside to get inspiration for your scene.
- Using the markers make small dots to color in your picture.
- To make new colors you will alternate back and forth with 2 colors. For example, if you want a darker green alternated between making dots with the green and gray/black marker. If you are wanting a lighter shade of a color try spacing the dots out further so that the white paper shows through more.
- Remember to take a step back from your picture periodically so you can see it has a whole and not just as a bunch of small dots!
